One of my favorite restaurants in Paris is Restaurant Dominique Bouchet, which also happens to be the name of the chef/owner. On a visit to Paris last summer, I met my friend Carol there for dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside – with an old stone wall, mahogany furniture and nice paintings. But the real attraction is the food.
We started with two appetizers - duck foie gras with figs and chilled pea veloute with almonds and summer truffles. Both dishes were fresh and extremely flavorful. The foie gras is house-made and was delectable. The summer truffles were fragrant and delicious. Next we had a tender leg of lamb that had been roasted for seven hours. It was melt-in-the-mouth tender. We also had baked john dory fish with rosemary and chanterelle mushrooms. Everything was perfectly cooked and so tasty.
We also splurged on a cheese plate that night, followed by desserts. We had a white peach poached in vanilla syrup as well as a fantastic trio of chocolate desserts.
To top it off, Chef Bouchet came over to our table and talked with us for several minutes. It was a really nice personal touch to the evening.
If you are looking for a special meal at fairly reasonable prices, this is your place.
