This luscious Chateauneuf du Pape wine is made from about 80% old vine Grenache grapes, blended with Cinsault and Syrah. The winemaker, Isabel Ferrando, believes in organic viticulture and crop-thinning to ensure a healthy, low-yielding harvest. She ages in oak bottles and bottles without filtration. The result is a pure full-bodied wine with a deep purple color and hints of raspberry, plum and licorice. This wine is available from my friends at Cave du Verger des Papes. They will ship to the states (minimum purchase is one case). The wine sells for about $45 per bottle.
